By now we have all come to realise that Tankers will simply not admit how OP Tanks and the spam of Tanks is and will not accept how detrimental it is to the game as a whole and due to their stubborness I don't see any changes to AV and vehicles in the forseeable future so instead of looking at nerfs or buffs to Vehicles and infantry AV weapons their is another way to make the game less spam tanks to win and more tactical ..
Installations
Right now they are basically free WP to all Tank and Dropship users due to how weak they are defensively and if I'm quite honest CCP may as well remove from the game or they need to change how they work and there are 2 ways they can do this
1. Buff the hp of all installations from 3500 eHP to 25,000 eHP .. how on earth can a Tank have more HP than a stationary installation it's the most broken thing in DUST by a mile, they should require teamwork from 2/3 Tanks to take them down and lets face it ... Tanks should be used to take out other vehicles and installations rather than running around in a group of 6 killing infantry
- This would encourage people to fight over installations in key choke points and make the game alot more tactical as it isn't just about hacking and holding points but also hacking and holding installations in important areas
- This would also give installations an actual role on the battlefield instead of being free WP for Vehicles
2. Remove Installations from every map and add new skills for deployable Installations that have 25,000 eHP
- Pretty much the same as point 1
I honestly believe Installations should be the strongest equipment in this game, they are stationary turrets designed for defending key areas if you look at real combat items like Tanks and jets they are only used to take out defensive installations to allow infantry to push on and take the point .. they aren't used to kill small groups of infantry and personally this is why I believe DUST is seriously flawed right now .. Tanks are used as slayers rather than bunker busters to burst through the lines
If changes aren't made to Installations then there is no justification to their being 6 tanks on a team .. 6 tanks and 10 infantry .. that's ridiculous
Please CCP make installations the real kings of the battlefield and make Tanks fulfill their role of bunker busting
Infantry < Tanks < Installations < Infantry/Dropships
I should add that Dropships are a weakness of installations due to their height being restricted a dropship can fly overhead and destroy them in safety and if they had a CRU they could keep dropping infantry onto the point to try and take it ... although I will add that the amount of installations should be reduced on each map most notably those in the redline near the MCC
These are initial thoughts so please be constructive with your feedback and refrain from just putting 'No' it's extremely disrespectful and ignorant |

That's a fair assesment
I tried encompassing that in point 2 but I may not have explained it properley, I mentioned a new skill tree for deployable installations but it really comes down to 2 points
Would you rather have a few installations already on each map in locations for people to fight over that are alot stronger than the current Installations or add a new SP sink and let players call in their own installations
Sadly I believe that certain people would abuse the deployable installations (calling them in on top of roofs to camp etc) and with CCP's reluctance to give non vehicle users a respec we'd still be looking at the current gameplay that has actually made me stop playing the game this month for the next few months |

25k ehp would probably take all of the ammo of a forge gun, so LAVs and infantry are pretty helpless against it.
Installations are hackable, infantry don't have to destroy them to nullify them
LAV's are alot more maneuverable (or they at least should be) so can move faster than the turret can rotate
If Tanks require teamwork from AV to take them out, Installations should require teamwork from Tanks/Dropships and FG's to take them out
In regards to the AI ... reduce the amount of them on the field and keep the AI (In my experience the AI isn't as efficient as some people think it is).. they are defensive installations afterall |

A few extra ideas for you to ponder
1. Restrict Unmanned Installations range of engagements eg Blasters 150m Missiles 200m Railguns 300m and when manned they get full access to the true ranges of each turret, this would encourage people to man them rather than just hack and move on (An Unmanned Turret should be comfortably taken out by any half decent Vehicle user whilst still being a problem for anyone stupid enough to go within the engagement range)
2. Increase WP gains for their destruction to 300 WP (2x as much as you get for taking out a tank) |
